The Young Gourmand

Exploring New York City, One bite at a time

MORE ABOUT ME

My name is Nick. I live in New York City and food is one of my passions. Growing up in a large Italian family, food was always the most important part of family events- and I loved that. At the mere age of 2, I was caught on camera asking my parents: “Are were going to have eggplant parmagiana for dinner”?

 And so the story goes…

In my view, food goes beyond mere sustenance. Food brings people together, it tells a cultural story, and it is a form of personal expression. Food is emotional- recipes are passed down from generation to generation and re-creating those dishes can make a person feel as if their late relatives are sitting at the table with them. Finally, food is creative- flavors from around the world  can come together in an infinite number of ways to create something unique.

I plan to use this blog as a personal food journal. Follow along as I share: my thoughts on restaurants in and around New York, my adventures in the kitchen, and any other anecdotes related to the business, art, and science of the culinary world!
